Geographic scope of each event
Snowflakes and Stitches (February) includes the Portland Metro area south to the Salem metro area and points in between. This event includes a Shop Hop Memory Quilt. Every shop you visit will also be conducting an in-store drawing – enter at every shop to be eligible to win a prize at that shop.
Sunshine and Stitches (June) overlaps partially with Row by Row – it’s like getting two shop hops in one! Shop hoppers – especially those visiting our area – love this. This event also includes the Portland Metro area south to the Oregon border and points in between. Every shop you visit will also be conducting an in-store drawing – enter at every shop to be eligible to win a prize at that shop. This event also includes the Shop Hop Memory Quilt.

How do I get a copy of the Passport?
Participating shops will have printed Passports available prior to each event. You will also be able to download a copy of the Passport from the StitchesShopHops.com website. Look for the current event in the navigation bar, a drop down list will show up. Select the Passport for that event and print it.
Stamping Passports: 1 Passport will be stamped for any participant (12 year old and older) present in each shop during the event.
Souvenir Passports: If a participant wants to create a souvenir quilt using the passport – the second passport must be clearly marked “Souvenir”.
Must be present to get the Passport stamped: Shops will not be stamping passports for anyone that is not present in the shop during the event.
Why do we use a theme fabric / why is it a blender (basic)?
Blender fabrics (from a larger line that also includes feature fabrics) have been selected to make it easier for each shop to work that theme fabric up into a unique block (and project) that is reflective of each of our individual shops. The blender fabrics also make it possible for you pull together all the blocks into a scrappy project that has a some amount of continuity.
Do I get the fabric to make my 6″ Block?
Each shop hopper (12 and older) is provided at no cost, a pattern and the instructions for a 6” (finished) quilt block as well as all of the fabric to make that 6” block. At least one of the themed fabrics must be used in the block. Shops may also choose to add in other fabrics from the same line or other fabrics they may have in stock.
Why does each shop share a small (or large) project that features their 6″ block, why don’t we do a quilt instead?
Providing you with lots of project ideas that are new, different and a manageable size – means that you have something interesting to look forward to as you visit each shop in the event.
If you prefer making up a quilt to commemorate the event – we’ve designed a Shop Hop Memory Quilt for you to use in setting your collected blocks into a quilt. The Setting Instructions for the Shop Hop Memory Quilt will be available on the website and shared with email newsletter subscribers during each event.
How do I enter the in-store drawing?
Each participating shop will be conducting an in-store drawing for a prize of $25.00.
Complete the in-store drawing slip at each shop you visit in order to be in the drawing for that shop. You may also choose to subscribe to the shop’s email newsletter by indicating your interest – right on the drawing slip.
Why are the shop hop hours set the way they are?
All participating shops will be open a minimum of 6 days per week: 10 am – 5 pm (Sunday Hours may vary). Individual shops may be open earlier, later or every day during the event. The specific hours for each shop will be printed on the Passport and on the Driving Directions for each event. Please note – some shops may be open Sunday but closed on Monday and some shops may be closed on Sunday but open on Monday. This will be noted on the Passport.
When will I find out who won the prizes for the shop hop?
The prize drawing will be held at the end of the shop hop for all prizes of $50.00 or more. The names of all winners will be posted on Facebook.com/stitchesshophops and the StitchesShopHops.com website and provided to every participating shop. Additionally – an email will go out to everyone on the Stitches Shop Hops email newsletter list. You can sign up for the newsletter list in the right hand column on this website.
In-store Drawing ($25.00 Prize): Each shop will be drawing their own winner for the In-Store drawings and providing those names to the event coordinator. It is possible for the same person to win at more that one shop since each of those names are drawn separately in each shop.
Larger Prizes: The drawing for prizes ($50.00 and above) are drawn by the event coordinator at the closing meeting. There will be no duplication of names for these prizes – once a winning name has been drawn for a prize – that entry is not eligible to be drawn again for another prize at the same drawing. It is very possible that someone who won a prize in a shop – to also win one of the larger prizes drawn at the closing meeting.
Why are there so many rules?
The expectation is that all of us (shop owners and shop hoppers) partner together to make this series of events – lots of fun for everyone that participates. The only way that can happen is if everyone follows the agreed upon rules and responsibilities of participation.
